LAGOS SEALS PRIVATE LABORATORY FOR CARRYING OUT ILLEGAL COVID-19 TESTING

Lagos State Government, on Friday, July 10 sealed a private laboratory located on Banana Island, Ikoyi for carrying out COVID-19 tests without the Government's approval. 


Lagos State Ministry of Health (LSMOH)  disclosed this via a tweet on Saturday, July 11, 2020.


According to the Health Ministry, the laboratory identified as Acouns Medical Laboratory and Diagnostic Centre was situated in a pharmacy. 


The State Government hereby urged residents to desist from patronizing Health facilities not accredited by the Government for testing or management of COVID-19 cases.


 

Meanwhile, LSMOH, on June 30, granted permission to seven private laboratories to carry out COVID-19 tests, Eons Intelligence reports. 


The accredited private facilities were: Total Medical Services, SynLab, 54 Gene, Medbury Medical Services, Biologix Medical Services, 02 Medical Services and Clina Lancent Laboratories.

The State Government  assured the residents that it will continue to do its best to ensure that health facilities in the State comply with all standards to guarantee the wellbeing of Lagosians.


According to the NCDC, as at Friday, July 10, of the 31,323 COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, Lagos State has 12,051 cases,  discharged 1,764 patients and recorded 147 deaths.
