
Enugu Police Foil Robbery, Neutralise Suspect, Recover Stolen Vehicles
Enugu State Police Command has successfully conducted multiple security operations, leading to the neutralization of an armed robbery suspect, the arrest of a car theft suspect, and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and stolen vehicles.
During an operation on February 24, 2025, police operatives from the 9th Mile Division repelled an armed robbery attack along Owa Road, 9th Mile, neutralizing one of the armed suspects while others fled with gunshot injuries. Recovered from the scene were a cut-to-size double-barreled gun with three live cartridges, suspected Indian hemp, and other incriminating exhibits. A manhunt is ongoing for the fleeing suspects.
In another operation on February 14, 2025, operatives from the Igbo-Etiti Division, acting on intelligence, arrested Sunday Ejiofor (23) and recovered a stolen blue Toyota Corolla. The suspect confessed to stealing the vehicle from a compound in Orba, Udenu LGA. Following an investigation by the Udenu Police Division, Ejiofor was arraigned in court and remanded at the Correctional Custodial Centre.
Additionally, on February 1, 2025, at about 2:00 a.m., operatives from the New Haven Division recovered another Toyota Corolla, which had been stolen earlier at 12:05 a.m. from Igbo Eze Street, Independence Layout, Enugu. The criminals abandoned the vehicle and fled upon sighting the approaching officers. The car has since been returned to its rightful owner.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), reaffirmed the Command's commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents. He urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by providing credible information.
