GUNMEN KIDNAP TRAVELLER, KILL DRIVER IN ONDO
Unknown gunmen have abducted a-yet-to-be identified man and killed his driver in Ondo State, south-west region of Nigeria.
The incident occurred on Thursday, January 7, while the abducted person was traveling with his driver on the Ise/Isua Akoko Road.
Confirming the ugly incident on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer Ondo State, Tee-Leo Ikoro said that the abducted person is yet to be rescued.
He added that the corpse of the driver which was found inside the car has been recovered and deposited at the mortuary in the State Specialist Hospital in Ikare- Akoko.

Meanwhile, sources told newsmen that the kidnappers have contacted the family of the victim and requested for the payment of a ransom to secure his release.
The PPRO however said that the police have deployed its men to the nearby forest to rescue the abductee and apprehend the perpetrators.
The incident occurred two days after a couple and two other persons were abducted by gunmen at Uso community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The couple was kidnapped on Tuesday while travelling with their three children when the kidnappers barricaded the road and abducted them, leaving their children behind.
Similarly, one 35-year-old Olatunbosun Johnson and a yet to be identified Hausa man, who works as a labourer were abducted on a farm within the community.
Series of kidnapping cases have been reported in Ondo State lately amid rising insecurity in the country. The State has witnessed a spike in the kidnapping and murder of prominent individuals.
Wife of Olugbenga Ale, Chief of Staff to Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, was abducted by suspected gunmen in November but was rescued two days later by personnel of the Amotekun corps of the State.
Also in the same month armed men suspected to be kidnappers, killed Oba Israel Adewusi, the Olufon of lfon in Ose council area of Ondo state, a first class traditional ruler in the state while returning from a meeting of council of obas in Akure.
