NDDC CORRUPTION: THE POLICE SHOULD NOT MEDDLE BETWEEN AKPABIO AND NUNIEH - FORMER DSS DIRECTOR
Former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Albert Horsefall, has said that the police has no right to intervene in the ongoing rift between the Minister of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the former MD of the Commission, Dr Joi Nunieh.
Recall that on July 16th, 2020, Men of the Nigeria Police Force stormed the residence of Dr Joi Nunieh in an attempt to arrest the former MD.
Same day, Nunieh in an interview with newsmen, said policemen tried breaking the door of her residence, and wanted to arrest her without a warrant.
In recent weeks, there has been a battle between the duo with the former Acting MD accusing the Minister of corruption and financial recklessness.
On July 13th, 2020, the Minister responded to Dr Joi Nunieh saying she lacks character and also exposed her academic deficiencies.
She was however 'rescued' by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who took her along with him to the State House.
The former DSS boss says he is disturbed by the exchange and war of words between the MD and the Minister.
He said he was shocked to learn about the role of the police who had besieged the residence of Dr Nunieh over the rift between the duo.

Horsefall, who is also the Chairman Rivers Elders and Leaders Forum, said the rift between the duo is a personal issue and the police has no right to meddle between them.
The elder statesman urged the police force to maintain neutrality and not be seen as taking sides or favouring any group of persons irrespective of their status in the society.
He commended the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for the prompt action he took to protect Dr Nunieh during the police invasion and threat to her life.
