As the county prepares to reopen flight operations, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) plans to deploy robots to all airports in the Federation, PUNCH reports.

The robots would be used for passengers facilitation processes, including, check-ins, temperature checks, profiling, and detection of security threats.

Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs told the Punch that the test run of robots was carried out at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos State, on Saturday, June 27.

"it's a demo that is going on in Lagos. It's been demonstrated. If it works fine, it will be adopted," she said.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) today conducted a simulation flight ahead of the reopening of the country's airspace for commercial operations.

The flight simulation flight, which was operated by Aero Contractors, took off from the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja to Lagos Airport and vice-versa.

Recall, Eons Intelligence, on June 18, reported that the Federal Government had suspended planned resumption of flights.

The civil aviation authority, despite pressures coming from all quarters, said it would not approve the start any day until the agency confirms that all flight operators are ready to start in a safe, secure, organized and efficient manner.

The country's airspace was shut in March for commercial operations by President Muhammadu Buhari, as part of the measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
