(VIDEO) POLICE ARREST EIGHT TRAFFIC ROBBERS TERRORISING COMMUTERS IN KETU, RECOVER ILLICIT DRUGS AND AMMUNITION

The Lagos State Police command has arrested eight suspected traffic robbers in separate encounters on Thursday night February 11, 2021 and Friday February 12, 2021, in the Ketu area of the State.




It was gathered that five of the suspects were arrested on Thursday night around 10.30pm while the remaining three suspects were nabbed by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Friday morning around 6am.


 

The arrested suspects include; Olawuyi Olayinka, m, 27, Mayowa Adeleke, m, 17, Fa'izu Ado, m, 25, Segun Oluwatoyin, m, 27, Haruna Shuaibu, m, 29, Amos Abayomi, ,m 24, Monday Obayemi,m, 25 and Okunlola Olawale, m, 21.


 

One of the arrested suspects identified as Amos Abayomi on Friday revealed he and his syndicate were notorious for robbing commuters very early in the morning and late at night.



According to Abayomi's narration, the hoodlums in Ajelogo Park, Ketu, would deliberately use their trucks to block the highway at dawn thereby creating artificial traffic so that they can ambush motorists and commuters held in traffic.

He revealed he is a member of the Eiye confraternity and confessed that one of the arrested suspects identified as Monday Obayemi sella illicit drugs and consistently robs commuters of their valuables in Ketu.


Items recovered from the suspects include; weapons, assorted charms, mobile phones, wraps of substances suspected to be 

cocaine and other hard drugs.


Recall that the Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Hakeem Odumosu, vowed that the Command was not going to tolerate any act of hooliganism, criminality, and lawlessness in the State.


He directed that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba for discreet Investigation and prosecution, and vowed that the command will not leave any stone unturned in getting the State rid of criminals and hoodlums.
