POLICE CLEAR SHANTIES AND ILLEGAL STRUCTURES IN IKORODU, ARREST FIVE TRAFFIC ROBBERS AND CULTISTS
The Lagos State Police command on Thursday stormed traffic robbers and cultists shanties in Ikorodu area of Lagos State arresting five suspects in the process.
Recall that on January 27, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, promised that Ikorodu would be sanitised of illegal and criminal acts.
On Thursday, the CP's special squad comprising of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, RRS operatives, Taskforce, State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), Special Anti Crime team, Police Mobile Force, Motor Traffic Division and other security operatives, stormed the town around 6pm to fish out the suspects.
The operations were carried out simultaneously to clear the shanties, blockages and open markets on the roads particularly at Agric Area and some other parts of the town with a view to making the town free of gridlock and crimes.
The security operatives succeed in arresting the five suspects who are identified as Tanimowo Babatunde, 41, Gbolahan Oladimeji, 25, Kabiru Atanda, 30, Ibrahim Abubakri, 29, and Wasiu Rafiu, 19.
CP Odumosu vowed to consistently carry out more operations in Ikorodu and other areas of the state in order to secure and protect lives and properties.
He appealed to traditional rulers and head of unions in the town to support the police in its efforts to sanitise the town and rid it of criminal elements
