On Sunday, October 11, 2020, Nigeria's Inspector General of Police (IGP) dissolved operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) following nationwide protests against the extra-judicial killings, extortion, exploitation, and harassment of defenceless citizens from the group that have escalated over the past few years.
His previous announcement of the dissolution of SARS had failed to put an end to the protests that started last week.
