265 NIGERIANS TO ARRIVE LAGOS FROM DUBAI TODAY

As plans to evacuate Nigerians abroad kick off this week, 265 Nigerians will arrive in Lagos from Dubai today, May 6, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said. 


This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday, signed by the Ministry's spokesperson, Ferdinand Nwonye. He said the Emirates Airlines to carry out the evacuation would arrive at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. 



Similarly, plans to evacuate not fewer than 300 Nigerians from London on Friday, May 8, is ongoing. The flight (BA 91155) will depart London Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5, at 07:10 am and expected to arrive Lagos, Nigeria at 1:10. 


Also, arrangements are made with Ethiopian airlines to evacuate Nigerians from New York to Abuja next Monday, May 11, according to the Foreign Ministry. 


Evacuation plans were made following the guidelines of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). 


According to the NCDC, evacuees will undergo mandatory 14 days of supervised quarantine in a monitored environment.

The Ministry added that it had made hotel reservations for lodging and quarantining of evacuees in Lagos and Abuja. It said that the hotels had been inspected by the Port Health Services, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCDC, and others.


The Federal Government assures Nigerian that it will continue to ensure adequate welfare and safety of its citizens.
