BANDITS OPEN FIRE ON COMMUTERS ALONG KADUNA-BIRNIN ROAD, KILL 6

Six persons lost their lives while some others were left injured as bandits opened fire on commuters along Kaduna-Birnin road, the Kaduna State Government have said.


In a statement released on Friday, Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said the bandits, while trying to escape from state security agencies patrolling the Birnin Gwari general area, fled through the highway around Ungwan Dangedda, shooting as they were retreating.

Aruwan explained that the bandits’ bullets hit commuters including the driver of a commercial vehicle which somersaulted several times before stopping.


The names of the persons who lost their lives are Abdurrashid Ya’u, Sa’idu Ya’u, Suwaiba Ali, Sulaiman Ustaz, Ramatu Ya’u and an unidentified infant.

Those who suffered injuries are Ubale Yahuza, Rabiu Ibrahim, Umar Musa, Saude Yusuf, Mohammed Aminu and Kadima Mercy.


Governor Nasir El-Rufai, reacting to the incident commiserated with the families of the deceased while also praying for the repose of the souls of those who perished in the crash.


Governor El-Rufai also wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
