INSECURITY: PRESIDENT BUHARI APPOINTS NEW HANDS AS SERVICE CHIEFS BOW OUT

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday accepted the immediate resignation and retirement of Service Chiefs and appointed new hands.


The newly appointed service chiefs are Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff.

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, revealed that the President thanked the outgoing Service Chiefs for their “overwhelming achievements in our efforts at bringing enduring peace to our dear country.”

The SSA to the President also disclosed that the outgoing service chiefs have been immediately retired. 


Those involved are the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

There has been several calls to replace the Service Chiefs following the rising spate of insecurity in the country.
