WHAT SIN HAVE THE PLACES OF WORSHIP COMMITTED?- CAN PRESIDENT ASKS
President of the Christian Association of Nigerian, CAN Rev Samson Ayokunle has tasked the State Governments to give reasons why restrictions on religious gathering are still in place.
In a statement issued by Bayo Oladeji, spokesman of the CAN President on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, titled: "Reopen All Churches Now: Enough is Enough – CAN" Rev Ayokunle said the lockdown order on worship places is no longer acceptable.
He noted that despite the directive by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, States like Lagos and Ogun have not reopened worship places.
"What sin have the places of worship committed?" he asks.

The Christian body said it agreed with the Federal Government on the closure of worship places, schools, and others when the coronavirus pandemic emerged.
It emphasized that since the economy has been opened, the ban on opening churches should also be lifted.
"Is it not our members in the places of worship that go to our markets and other sectors? Is it that people cannot contract the virus in the markets and airports?" CAN said.
The association urged the concerned State Governments not to turn a deaf ear to its plea and take prompt action.
