POLICE ARRESTS 54 CULTISTS IN AKWA IBOM
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested 54 suspected cultists in three Local Government Areas of the State.
The State's Police PRO, Odiko Macdon, who confirmed the development on Tuesday, November 17, said 31 of the suspected cultists were arrested in Ibesikpo Asutan local council, 16 in Oruk Anam council and 7 in Etinan council.
The Police PRO said the State's Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amienghene, has warned those involved in cultism in Akwa Ibom to renounce their membership.
He admonished residents of the State to go about their lawful businesses and give timely information to security operatives.
In the same vein, the Police PRO disclosed that operatives of the State's command has arrested a secondary school student, identified as David Okon, for allegedly stabbing to death a fellow student, Solomon Bassey, at West Itam Secondary School in Itu Local Government Area of the state.
The Police PRO the death of Solomon Bassey was as a result of rival cult clash between SS 2 and SS3 students in the school.
He decried the level of moral decadence in some schools and urged parents to inculcate family values on their children.
