Troops Rescue Seven Kidnap Victims in Tsanyawa, Four Still Missing
Troops of Operation MESA under the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued seven kidnapped victims during a coordinated night operation in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The operation, conducted alongside personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and the Nigeria Police Force, followed a distress call received at about 11:00 p.m. on 29 November 2025 from residents of Yankamaye Cikin Gari village, who reported an ongoing bandit attack.
According to military authorities, troops responded swiftly and made contact with the armed group, successfully rescuing seven abducted individuals. The attackers had earlier taken the victims and reportedly killed a 60-year-old woman during the assault.
Security officials said the troops pursued the fleeing bandits along their withdrawal route toward Rimaye, engaging them with heavy firepower and recovering the abducted victims. However, four persons remain unaccounted for, with search efforts ongoing.
The bandits were said to have escaped in the direction of Kankia Local Government Area in Katsina State, and a tracking operation has been launched to locate them.
The Commander of 3 Brigade commended the troops for their courage and rapid response, urging residents to continue providing credible information that could support ongoing security operations in the region.
