MADAGASCAR CRITICIZES THE WEST FOR UNDERESTIMATING THE EFFICACY OF ITS COVID-19 MEDICINE

Madagascar President, Andry Rajoelina, on Monday, criticized the West for undermining the efficacy of the COVID-19 medicine manufactured by his country.

The President whose medical practitioners have put in efforts to manufacture medicine to cure COVID-19 lamented that the medicine is not taken seriously by the West.

He said this during an interview with French media.

The President noted that if it wasn't Madagascar, and it was a European country that had discovered the medicine, it's efficacy won't be doubted.

However, the World Health Organisation, (WHO) reiterated that cure the Madagascar President claimed to have produced has not been clinically tested.

According to Madagascar, the medicine, in liquid form is derived from artemisia, with proven anti-malarial properties.

"I think the problem is that the medicine comes from Africa and they can't admit that a country like Madagascar has come up with this formula to save the world," said Rajoelina.

Rajoelina said that the formula cures patients within 10 days.

The WHO said any medicine that has not been clinically tested is not approved to cure COVID-19.

Some African countries are stepping up to assist Madagascar to get proof of the efficacy of COVID Organics.

South Africa's government has promised to assist Madagascar to test and validate the efficacy of its Coronavirus herbal cure.

Senegal and Nigeria are also testing the herbal tea in their countries to ensure it is safe for their citizens to use.

Other African countries that have imported Madagacar's coronavirus herbal treatment are Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Niger and Tanzania.

Rajoelina, on his stand, said nothing can stop its progress in treating COVID-19 patients with the medicine as long as it serves its purpose.

"No County or organization will keep us from going forward".

153 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Madagascar with 183 recoveries and no deaths.

The President added that the patients who were cured were being administered the COVID-19-Organics alone.
