CHURCHES, RELIGIOUS CENTRES CAN OPEN - EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT
David Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State has announced that religious centres in the State can be opened from May 15.
Umahi lifted the ban on religious worship after over a month ban on opening churches mosques and other religious centres.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation and Acting Commissioner Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Uchenna Orji.
He noted that the ban lifting is evident to plea by the Leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ebonyi State Chapter.
Report indicates that Christian faithfuls, which include reverends, Bishops and others in the State, questioned why churches were closed and markets remained opened.
The ban was imposed as part of the measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
According to the Governor, the lifting of ban takes effect from Friday, May 15.
He reiterated that religious centres should conduct their worship once in a week.
