CPC REBELS ATTACK CONVOY OF HUMANITARIAN AND COMMERCIAL TRUCKS IN CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
Members of the CPC rebel group on Monday attacked an international non-governmental convoy and commercial trucks entering the Central African Republic (CAR) from Cameroon.
A driver was killed and three others were left critically injured when the rebels attacked a convoy of about 30 trucks that left the Cameroonian border town of Garoua Boulai in the East Region for the CAR capital, Bangui.
Eons Intelligence gathered that the injured have been airlifted by a United Nations helicopter for treatment.
Intelligence experts posit that the CPC rebels who are waging a war against the CAR government attacked the convoy to deter truck drivers from providing relief items from Cameroon.
The CPC rebel group had earlier issued stern warnings that no Cameroon truck drivers should attempt to enter CAR until further notice.
The rebels have blocked more than 1,000 trucks in Garoua Boulai for over a month since the CPC rebels believed to be linked to former President Francois Bozize launched renewed attempts to overthrow the government of President Faustin Archange Touadera.
