OGUN STATE POLICE ARRESTS THREE HIGHWAY ROBBERS ALONG LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

The Ogun State Police command has arrested three highway robbers at the Alapako area along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.


The DPO Owode Egba division, Mathew Ediae, confirmed the incident.


The suspects were identified as Uzefa Idris, Adamu Yakubu, and Ayuba Buhari.

They were arrested on Friday, July 17th, 2020, following a distress call to the Owode Egba division that a Mazda bus has been forcefully stopped on the highway by a gang of armed robbers and the occupants are being dispossessed of their belongings.


The security operatives were immediately mobilized to the scene. On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels but were apprehended by the Police.


The Police rescued two victims identified as  Oluwakemi Oyegade, and the driver, Zacheaus Olaniyi.


The culprits stole #545,000 and one itel phone from Miss Oyegbade.

The victims narrated that the hoodlums intercepted on the road and forcefully stopped their vehicles.


They were dispossessed of their valuables and were severely beaten by the criminals.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-Robbery Squads (SARS) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
