The residents returned to their village on August 2 following assurances from the military and the Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum that their town is now safe.

However, the Islamic Insurgents who came in about 22 trucks, invaded Kukawa village in the late afternoon of Tuesday, August 18 and successfully abducted hundreds of residents, sources which cannot be independently verified claimed as there are sources with counter-narratives of the incident.

As security sources continue to bombard the insurgents, the terror activities of the Sect has gotten bolder and more intense.

On Monday, August 17 the terrorists also attacked Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno and destroyed the telecom mast, a newly equipped hospital and some other infrastructures in the state.
