'STRANGE' DISEASE KILLS SIX PERSONS IN MINJIBIR LGA OF KANO
The Kano State Government on Monday confirmed that six persons have died from a strange disease in Minjibir Local Government Area of the State.
This comes barely one month after the State Government announced that 10 persons died from consuming a poisonous fruit juice in the State.
The State's Commissioner of Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim-Tsanyawa, who confirmed the development, said 46 other affected persons had been hospitalised.
Ibrahim-Tsanyawa said the disease broke out in Gandun Koya village on May 7, and has spread to adjourning communities.
“The cause of the outbreak can be attributed to open defacation and poor sanitation in the communities.
“The patients presented symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting.
“Six persons died of the disease, 28 were discharged and 18 others are still on admission,” he said.
Ibrahim-Tsanyawa said the ministry had begun an investigation to unravel the cause of the disease.
Recall, two months ago, Eons Intelligence reported that three persons died from a mysterious disease in Kano State.
The disease, whose outbreak was recorded on March 10, was suspected to be caused by consumption of contaminated flavor and a brand of expired instant drink products. 284 persons were infected with the disease in 13 local government areas of the State.
