BANDITS ABDUCT SCORES OF PASSENGERS ALONG THE BIRNIN GWARI-KADUNA HIGHWAY
Eons Intelligence have gathered that bandits have abducted scores of travellers along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari expressway in Kaduna State.
The incident occurred around 11am on Wednesday January 12.
Sources say the victims were commuting in a convoy with security escorts when they were ambushed by the assailants.
Most of the kidnapped victims were traders commuting from Birnin Gwari and other neighbouring communities in Niger State to Kano for business activities.
It should be recalled that on December 22, 2021, Eons Intelligence reported that bandits kidnapped not less than 70 passengers along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna State.
There has been an upsurge in highway abductions in Kaduna State recently with the Kaduna-Abuja expressway an epicentre for several bandits attacks.
On November 23, Eons Intelligence reported that bandits abducted an unspecified number of commuters on the Kaduna-Abuja highway
This was 48 hours after armed bandits attacked commuters around Rijana area of the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, killing Alhaji Sagir Hamidu, 2019 All Peoples' Congress (APC) Gubernatorial candidate in Zamfara State and former Director of Protocol, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Recall, on September 29, Eons Intelligence reported that the State Government suspended telecommunication services to tackle the menace of banditry and other related crimes in the State
