BANDITS KIDNAP SEVERAL COMMUTERS ALONG KADUNA-BIRNIN GWARI HIGHWAY

Bandits have abducted several commuters along the Kaduna – Birnin Gwari Highway.

Sources say the incident occurred around 11am on Wednesday after the assailant ambushed a convoy of about 20 cars.

Eons Intelligence gathered that most of the victims kidnapped are traders who were commuting to Kano.

There has been an upsurge in highway abductions in Kaduna State recently with the Kaduna-Abuja expressway an epicentre for several bandits attacks.

It should be recalled that on November 23, Eons Intelligence reported that bandits abducted an unspecified number of commuters on the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

This was 48 hours after armed bandits attacked commuters around Rijana area of the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, killing Alhaji Sagir Hamidu, 2019 All Peoples' Congress (APC) Gubernatorial candidate in Zamfara State and former Director of Protocol, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The recent abduction on the Kaduna-Zaria expressway comes after the Kaduna State Government restored telecommunication services in some parts of the State.

Recall, on September 29, Eons Intelligence reported that the State Government suspended telecommunication services to tackle the menace of banditry and other related crimes in the State.

Kajuru, Chikun, Igabi, Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Zaria, and Zango-Kataf were some of the Local Government Areas where telecommunication services were suspended in the State.
