Reports indicate that Bandits on Monday attacked Wawan Rafi village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing six persons and setting seven houses ablaze.
It was gathered that the assailants killed a man, his seven-year old son, and two other residents. They also burnt a car and a motorcycle during the attack.
Samuel Aruwa, the State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, who confirmed the incident said, the attack would have been more brutal but security operatives deployed to the area forced the assailants to flee to a nearby forest.
He said the security personnel recovered eight empty cases of 7.62mm ammunition at the scene of the attack.
In a similar attack in Iyatawa village, Giwa LGA of Kaduna, bandits killed a resident. Also, bandits attacked Kajuru LGA and killed one person.
Sources say the attackers stormed Rugan Bello, a settlement in Kajuru local government in the early hours of Monday in an attempt to kidnap the residents.
Community vigilante members and security personnel resisted the bandits by engaging them in gun duel. A resident was killed in the process and the gunmen escaped.
