BANDITS KILL 18, RAZE HOUSES IN SOKOTO COMMUNITIES

Bandits have caused havoc in three villages within a week, killed about 18 persons, abducted several others, razed houses and looted valuables in Gandi District, Rabbah LGA, and Kware LGA, Sokoto State. 


The information available indicates that the bandits invaded the Gidan-Buwai community in the wee hour of 6th November 2023, in numbers over 100 riding on motorcycles with sophisticated weapons on them and started killing and injuring the residents. They rustled over 100 cattle, 200 sheep and goats belonging the the community members. They also razed several houses, about 60 silos, 10 motorcycles, and five vehicles were set ablaze. Many shops were looted and essential goods were stolen. 


However, the bandits did house-to-house search for the vigilante members that reside within the community before they departed the village. 


Similarly, the bandits attacked Maikujera village, killed another five persons, and several others sustained various degrees of bullet injuries. 


All the victims were rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital for immediate treatment. 


Thereupon, the bandits again attacked and killed a father and his son at the dawn of Wednesday, and also abducted five persons at Maikara village, Kware LGA.


Meanwhile, the police have started their investigations into the horror incident in those villages.
