COURT ADJOURN BAWA CASE TO OCTOBER 9, 2023
A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the hearing of a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by lawyer Nkereuwem Mark Anana on behalf of suspended EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa against the Director-General of the DSS and two others.
Bawa has been in detention since June 14, 2023, without being charged or granted bail.
The lawyer has taken the DSS Director-General, DSS, and Attorney-General of the Federation to court for trampling upon the fundamental rights of the embattled chairman of the EFCC, in a suit marked FHC/L/CS/1631/2023.
Justice Akintayo Aluko has scheduled the hearing for October 9, 2023, in response to a request from Anana to address a preliminary objection by the DSS Director-General.
In the suit, Anana, a former EFCC prosecutor, has requested damages amounting to N100 million from the first and second respondents.
