COURT REMANDS 3 SHARIA JUDGES AND 12 OTHER JUDICIAL WORKERS OVER ALLEGED FRAUD OF N500M
Three Sharia Court Judges alongside with other 12 judicial workers have been remanded over alleged theft of about N500 million.
The count charge of N500m theft read against them at Gyadi- Gyadi division of Kano Chief Magistrate Court, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
The judges and the judicial workers are standing trial before Chief Magistrate Mustapha Sa’ad Datti on four-count charge which includes; criminal conspiracy, joint Act, criminal breach of trust by public service, and theft. Which is against the sections 97, 79, 315, and 289 of the Kano state penal code law which is punishable.
Meanwhile, the state Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission arraigned the judicial staff for alleged forgery of Kano Sharia Court letter-headed paper and signatures of two signatories to fraudulently withdraw from the court’s Stanbic IBTC bank an amount of N484,067,327:07.
The defendants were accused by The Anti-corruption lawyer for financial fraud of N96,250,000.00 which they allegedly withdrew from Kano State Pension Fund Trustee into the Account of Shari’a Court which was subsequently diverted into different private accounts.
