The Secretary to the Orelade/Ladera Royal Family of Gberigbe community, Mr Olayiwola Akanmu, who owns the lands confirmed the incident.
The withdrawal of Police operatives in Gberigbe community early June made the community vulnerable to cult and other criminal attacks.
Akanmu said that he reported the matter to the Police at Imota Police Station, but the Police did not take the necessary proactive action to bring the situation under control.

He narrated that sometime ago, a group of land grabbers and cultists were involved in a clash with operatives of the Nigeria Army, who were at the time patrolling the area.
The clash led to the death of a suspected land grabber. He said that the land grabbers wrote a petition to the Police Headquarters, Abuja, demanding for justice for their colleague who was allegedly killed by the Soldiers.
However, the incident caused the land grabbers and the cultists to leave the area for a while, he however, said that they returned to the area.
Now, when they came back, the land grabbers petitioned the Police Force for a second time, asking them to investigate the murder of their colleague. According to him, the Force then withdrew a team of mobile Police who were securing the area.
