Other confiscated items include 1,248 (50kg) of parboiled rice, 425 (25 litres) of PMS, 24 bales of used clothing, and 1 used bag.
The total weight of the illegal substances is 777.5kg, and they will be handed over to the NDLEA on Friday, November 10, 2023.
"These achievements were possible through timely sharing of credible intelligence and effective collaboration between all units of the Nigeria Customs Service in Oyo and Osun States, including the Federal Operations Unit and Border Drill." He stated.
Additionally, the Customs Area Controller announced that the Command had generated N11,679,732,583.91 as revenue for the Federal Government in September and October 2023. Combined with the revenue collected from January to August 2023, the Command's total collection stands at N59,087,983,670.64.
Oramalugo attributed this success to the Command's commitment to trade facilitation, enforcement of Customs laws, and fostering a conducive business environment.
He expressed gratitude to sister agencies such as the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Security, and NDLEA. He also acknowledged the support of traditional rulers and community leaders in combating smuggling.
Oramalugo issued a warning to those with nefarious intentions, stating that the Command would deploy all available resources in accordance with the new Nigeria Customs Service Act of 2023 to frustrate and bring economic saboteurs to justice.
He extended thanks to the governments of Oyo and Osun States for creating an enabling environment for the Command's officers and assured compliant stakeholders of maximum cooperation within the Command's area of responsibilities.
