Delta Police Arrest 80 Suspects, Recover 31 Firearms in August Crackdown

The Delta State Police Command has announced significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the arrest of 80 suspects and the recovery of 31 firearms during various operations in August 2025.

Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda S. Olufemi, who disclosed this in Asaba, said the command intensified intelligence-led operations across the state, resulting in major arrests and recovery of arms, ammunition, and stolen property.


Key Achievements


Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested: Several suspected armed robbers were apprehended in Asaba, Ughelli, Ogwashi-Uku, and other locations. Recovered items included pistols, pump-action rifles, double-barrelled guns, live cartridges, and stolen vehicles.

Recovery of Stolen Vehicles: Among the vehicles recovered were a Mercedes-Benz GLK, a Lexus RX350, and a Toyota Camry, traced to armed robbery incidents in Delta and neighbouring states.


Illegal Possession of Ammunition: Police intercepted a suspect along the Asaba–Ibusa road with 75 live cartridges hidden in his vehicle.


Ex-Convict Rearrested: An ex-convict, recently released from prison, was rearrested for motorcycle theft just days after completing his sentence.


Drug Baroness Arrested: A woman identified as Egbule Isioma, alleged to be a major drug dealer in Ughelli, was arrested. Over 350 bottles of codeine, tramadol capsules, cannabis, and other illicit substances were recovered from her residence.


Fraud Syndicate Busted: A gang of suspected fraudsters operating in Warri and Ughelli was dismantled. The group allegedly defrauded victims of more than N23.5 million, and 16 stolen iPhones were recovered.


Recovery of Stolen Property: Police recovered 50 mobile phones and laptops, along with other valuables from robbery suspects.
