
Delta Police Engages Suspected Kidnappers, Recovers Weapons and Ammunition
On March 26, 2025, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team, led by Commander ASP Julius Robinson, were on the trail of suspected kidnappers. Extending their investigation to Rivers State, at about 18:20 hours on the same date, they tracked and arrested a fleeing suspect identified as Chedeye Mohammed.
Upon interrogation, the suspect led the operatives to a bush behind a trailer park in Rivers State, where they had hidden their weapons. One AK-47 rifle loaded with thirteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and his gang were responsible for multiple kidnappings in Ughelli, Agbarho, and other parts of the state, using Rivers State as their hideout. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other gang members.
Arrest of Suspected Armed Robbers and Gun Runners, Recovery of One AK-47 Rifle, One Automatic Pump Action Gun, One Beretta Pistol, and Ammunition
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, conducted a sting operation in Anyangba Town, Kogi State, resulting in the arrest of three suspects: Zakari Mohammed (31) of Olugbujo Community, Ibrahim Mumuni (29) of Anyangba Town, and Mohammed Hamisu (25) of Anyangba Town, all in Dekina LGA of Kogi State.
A search warrant was executed at their residence, leading to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and one automatic pump-action gun. On the same date, at about 14:05 hours, based on the suspects’ statements, another suspect, Samaila Mohammed (35) of Udo Community, Dekina LGA, was arrested. A Beretta pistol loaded with three rounds of live ammunition and cartridges was recovered from him. The suspects are in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
Arrest of a Suspect Supplying Ammunition to Kidnappers, Recovery of Eighty-Two Rounds of 7.62mm Ammunition
On March 25, 2025, at about 18:20 hours, operatives of CP-SAT, acting on intelligence, conducted a covert operation in Olomoro Community, Isoko South LGA, leading to the arrest of Emu Lucky (35), a native of Igbide Community. A search of his premises led to the recovery of eighty-two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was working with Mohammed Bellow, a suspected kidnapper already in custody. Bellow acted as a middleman between the suspected gun runner and other kidnappers. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police Reaffirms Commitment to Security
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has assured the people of Delta State that these efforts will be sustained to fulfill the mandate given to him by the Inspector General of Police. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that all residents can sleep peacefully, knowing their security is guaranteed. He also called for increased cooperation and partnership from the public to further enhance security measures in the state.
