Delta Police Foil Planned Kidnap, Recover Rifles and Ammunition in Upper Agbarho

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command has foiled a planned kidnapping operation in Upper Agbarho, recovering high-calibre firearms and live ammunition during a coordinated security operation.

The breakthrough was recorded by operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) as part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across the state.

According to the Command, actionable intelligence revealed that about six suspected kidnappers were sighted along a bush path in the Upper Agbarho area. Acting on the information, CP-SAT operatives, led by ASP Julius Robinson and working in collaboration with community vigilantes, conducted a covert operation at about 9:35 p.m. on 11 January 2026, successfully cordoning off an uncompleted building identified as the suspects’ hideout.

Upon sighting the operatives, the suspects reportedly opened fire. The police responded with superior firepower, forcing the hoodlums to flee the scene with varying degrees of injuries, abandoning their weapons and other items.

Items recovered from the scene include one FNC rifle loaded with one round of live ammunition and one pump-action gun with 32 rounds of live cartridges. All exhibits have been secured by the police, while a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, commended the operatives for their bravery and effective use of intelligence. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to deny criminal elements the space to operate, warning that Delta State will remain hostile to all forms of criminality.
