DELTA STATE POLICE APPREHEND ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN SWIFT OPERATION

In response to recent reports of robbery incidents plaguing Redeem Road, Okpanam town, and other parts of Delta State, Commissioner of Police CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has issued a stern warning to DPOs and Area Commanders to escalate efforts in curbing the rising crime wave.

In the early hours of March 4, 2024, the Delta Hawk Team, in collaboration with the Okpanam Divisional Police Headquarters, swiftly responded to a distress call regarding an armed robbery at Play Learn Academy School in Marble Hill Junction. Upon arrival, the police engaged the suspects in a gun duel. One suspected armed robber sustained gunshot wounds and later succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Additionally, officers recovered firearms, including an English Pump Action gun and a cut-to-size single barrel gun with cartridges. Efforts are underway to apprehend other fleeing suspects and recover more firearms.

On March 1, 2024, a female resident reported a robbery incident involving three assailants who attacked her while she was aboard a tricycle (Keke) in Okudiete Community, Okpe LGA. Following the victim's report, the DPO Orerokpe, CSP Paul Oboware, swiftly deployed a Visibility Patrol Team, leading to the apprehension of two suspects. The police recovered all stolen items, including the tricycle used in the crime. Preliminary investigations suggest that the apprehended suspects are part of a notorious syndicate targeting passengers in transit.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect and dismantle the syndicate responsible for these crimes. The Delta State Police Force remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents, with a zero-tolerance approach towards criminal activities.
