EFCC Arrests Kaduna Fuel Station Manager Over Alleged Diversion of N500m
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Abdulazeez Gbadebo, a station manager with Emadeb Energy Service Limited, for allegedly diverting and misappropriating funds amounting to N500 million.
Gbadebo was picked up by operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC following a petition by his employer, Emadeb Energy, which uncovered the alleged fraud during an external audit. The company accused him of manipulating pump meters to sell bulk petrol to customers and diverting proceeds into his personal accounts.
Preliminary investigations by the EFCC revealed that the suspect sold petrol and diesel in large quantities to individuals while directing payments into his private bank accounts, instead of the company’s.
Items recovered from him include several luxury vehicles—an ash-coloured Mercedes Benz, an ash-coloured Mini Cooper, a green Mini Cooper, another ash-coloured Mini Cooper, and a white Mercedes Benz GLK. Also recovered were property documents, including a certificate of occupancy, an authorization letter from Kaduna Geographical Information System (KADGIS), a three-bedroom fully detached bungalow, and three landed properties.
The EFCC confirmed that Gbadebo will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
