EFCC CLARIFIES MISINFORMATION SURROUNDING VICTOR OCHE'S CONVICTION
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) addresses misconceptions surrounding the conviction of Victor Oche Odeh, a 19-year-old internet fraudster, by Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court on July 21, 2023. Odeh, along with four other undergraduates, pleaded guilty to one-count separate charge related to internet fraud, resulting in a two-year imprisonment for each.
The co-accused individuals include Chidebere Stanley Opara (a.k.a. Avail Hollywood), Manasseh Sefa Ephraim (a.k.a. Felicia_dannyyels), Chukwukere Obinna Paul (a.k.a. Shaun Lee), and Enyogu Etim Ekpo (a.k.a. Henry Wilson, Jasdav7).
In response to circulating misinformation, the EFCC clarifies that the ages of all the convicts, including Odeh, were not initially stated in the press release dated July 11, 2023. To dispel confusion, it emphasizes that Odeh is indeed 19 years old, contrary to false narratives suggesting he is seven years old.
Furthermore, the EFCC refutes claims that it "paraded" the convict, emphasizing that it is not a court of law that rightfully convicted him. The commission urges the public to rely on accurate information available on its social media platforms regarding the offense, prosecution, conviction, and sentence of Odeh.
Emphasizing the sanctity of facts, the EFCC encourages the public to disregard any misleading narratives and hoopla surrounding Odeh's conviction. It underscores the availability of accurate information on its official social media channels and emphasizes the importance of discernment in consuming news related to this case.
