GUNMEN KILL SOLDIER, 14 OTHERS IN BENUE STATE COMMUNITY
No fewer than 15 persons including a soldier lost their lives during an attack launched on Opaha Community by the suspected armed herdsmen at about 1800hrs on 25 April 2023.
The information available indicates that the armed bandits attacked the peaceful community at Edikwu Ward 2, in Apa LGA, Benue State, and scampered the residents with their sporadic shooting.
A soldier and commander of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) identified as Sunday Odese, confronted the armed invaders in their bid to repel them but was overpowered and massacred in the incident.

Similarly, suspected armed herdsmen attacked the Igbobi community, in the same LGA, a few weeks ago killing five persons while about 10,000 people were displaced and now taking refuge in Ugbokpo, the headquarters of the local government.
Nonetheless, they killed the Edikwun Council Ward Chairman of the Labour Party in the same LGA, Nathaniel Ochoche, at the weekend.
Meanwhile, the bodies have been recovered from nearby bushes in the early hours of today Wednesday 26 April 2023 after security operatives combed the area while many people are still missing due to the cause of the attack.
