INSECURITY: CANADA WARNS CITIZENS TO AVOID NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL TO NIGERIA

Following an increase in insecurity incidents across Nigeria, Canada has instructed its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the West African country.

"Avoid non-essential travel to Nigeria due to the unpredictable security situation throughout the country and the significant risk of terrorism, crime, inter-communal clashes, armed attacks and kidnappings," the Canadian government stated in a release published on its website on Monday.

The Canadian government told its citizens to avoid travelling to the following states due to increased risk of terrorism, armed attacks, kidnapping, intercommunal, and sectarian violence: Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Plateau, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Yobe, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers.
