KAGARA ABDUCTION: RESCUE MISSION ONGOING, ISLAMIC SCHOLAR SHEIKH GUMI MEETS WITH BANDITS
As Nigeria’s military in collaboration with the Police and other security agencies intensify search and rescue mission to ensure the safe return of students and staff of the Government Science College, Kagara in Niger State, security intel reveal that a famous Islamic Cleric identified as Sheik Gumi on Thursday met with some bandits ostensibly to negotiate for the release of the abducted students.
Sheik Gumi, who is a former military officer, met with bandit leader Dogo Gide in Tagina forest in Niger State which links Birnin Gwari forest in Kaduna North West.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police has deployed more special police units to Niger State to aid in the ongoing rescue mission.
IGP Adamu deployed additional 4 units of Police MobileForce attached to Operation Puff Adder II, One Unit of Police Special Forces, Personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Unit, operatives from the Force Intelligence Bureau and a police aerial surveillance helicopter.
