Niger Community Hit by Devastating Explosions, Leaving Three Dead
Authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the cause of the explosions or identified those responsible, following a series of blasts in the Bassa community, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, which claimed three lives and left five others injured.
The tragic incidents occurred on Wednesday, leaving a trail of devastation and fear among residents. Shiroro Local Government Chairman, Akilu Kuta, confirmed the explosions during a phone conversation from Minna, the state capital.
According to Kuta, the first explosion happened around 8:30 a.m., swiftly followed by a second blast just minutes later, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. A third explosion, which occurred at about 3:30 p.m. in the Tudun Baturia area of Bassa community, claimed another life.
Victims were initially rushed to Kuta General Hospital for urgent medical care. Those requiring advanced treatment were later transferred to the IBB Specialist Hospital. Reports indicate that at least one victim remains under treatment at Kuta General Hospital.
The incidents have left the Bassa community reeling in fear and uncertainty, with residents expressing concerns over safety.
As investigations continue, the absence of an official explanation for the explosions has heightened tensions in the area, leaving questions unanswered about the source of the blasts and those behind them.
