NSCDC ARRESTS VIGILANTE ON REPRISAL ATTACK ON FULANIS IN OYO
Officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo state have arrested a vigilante member while carrying out reprisal attacks on Fulanis in Idigba Olomi area of Ogbomoso, Oyo state.
Eons Intelligence gathered that the arrested suspect, Tajudeen Sheu and 5 other members (who are at large) broke into the Fulani settlement in the early hours of Tuesday in search of some Fulanis who they had altercations with the day before at the Surulere North Local Council Development Authority of Oyo state.
Iskilu Akinsanya, the commandant of the Corp in the state, while parading the suspect said items recovered from him include: a red Bajaj Motorcycle, with Osun registration number EKG 100 UP, a Single barrel local gun, cutlasses, petrol in Ragolis bottle, a torchlight and a local charm.
Sources say at least six persons were injured by Tajudeey Sheu and his gang members and taken to the Obafemi Hospital in Ogbomoso for treatment.
NSCDC gave the names of injured victims as Shuaibu Yusuf, Sule Adamu, Salihu Yusuf, Salihu Musa, Saliiu Yusuf, Yahu Adamu, and Dinbi Ado.
When interrogated, Tajudeen told security operatives that herdsmen attacked vigilantes on Monday, and about three of the Fulanis led by a boy named Dogo macheted him, hence he called his members for reprisal attacks rather than involve the police.
Citing Tajudeen's claim, the NSCDC once again called on members of the public to stop taking laws into their hands so that the country can be safe for everyone to live.
“We seize this opportunity to warn Nigerians not to take law into their hands but to report or lodge complaints to security agencies especially the NSCDC in their neighbourhood. Let us join hands and make the country a greater place for everyone to live.”
