ONE KILLED, SEVERAL INJURED AS SUSPECTED CULTISTS CLASH IN ILORIN
Eons Intelligence have gathered that one person was killed on Friday morning while several others sustained injuries in a cult clash in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.
Sources say violence erupted from a clash among suspected cultists from Baboko, Oja Tuntun, and Surulere communities in the Ilorin metropolis.
It was gathered that some of the cultists mobilized for a reprisal attack with the aim of forcing a release of their arrested colleagues at the Surulere police division, leading to a gun battle between both cult factions.
The Kwara State Police PRO, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident said; “We had gone out to put a chaotic situation under control this morning involving two cult groups and we made some arrests.
“These boys mobilized themselves and begin to attack the police. As a result, one of them jumped inside a canal in the Surulere area while trying to evade arrest.
“We called the Fire Service to retrieve the body but the boys came to disrupt them and then later the police retrieved the corpse from the cult guys.’’
He added that the police had commenced an investigation into the matter to get to its root.
