POLICE DEBUNK REPORTS OF ABDUCTION IN SOKOTO MOSQUE
The Sokoto State Police Command has debunked reports of mass abductions in a Mosque in Sokoto.
This comes after reports emerged online indicating that terror bandits stormed a Mosque in Sokoto State, abducting 48 worshippers, whilst the Sultan escaped through the window.
In a statement signed by the Sokoto State Police PRO, the reports are false and it was ‘a rumour or imagination of the writer of such a story.’
He said; “The attention of Sokoto State Police Command has been drawn to the above purported news in circulation on social media which emanates from an online medium that, arm bandits break into Sokoto State mosque and kidnapped 48 worshippers.
“In view of the above, the Command is using this medium to debunk such fabricated story capable of misleading the general public and to create chaos into the minds of law-abiding citizens of Sokoto State.
“It is pertinent to state that members of the public should be wary against deception and lies concocted by unverified news websites and further replicated in many online publications.”
