POLICE FOIL ABDUCTION, NEUTRALIZE TWO SUSPECTS IN DELTA STATE
On the evening of 30/12/2023, at about 19:30hrs, a 23-year-old male (name withheld) left his brother inside his Black GLK 350 Benz SUV parked along Jakpa Road while engaging in other activities.
During this time, the individual received distressing news that his vehicle was being attacked by three armed men who forcibly took the vehicle, with the brother still inside, and sped off to an unknown destination.
Upon receiving the report, Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Wale Abass PSC, promptly instructed DPO Ekpan CSP Aliyu Shaba to mobilize operatives for a rescue mission and to ensure the apprehension of the suspects.
In compliance with the Commissioner's orders, DPO Aliyu Shaba led a surveillance team from Ekpan division to Ekakpamre, Ughelli-South LGA. Acting on technologically generated intelligence, the team engaged the kidnappers in a bush, resulting in a fierce gun battle. Two of the kidnappers sustained fatal injuries, while a third managed to escape with gunshot wounds.
The kidnapped victim was successfully rescued unharmed, and the police recovered two single-barrel and one double-barrel gun, along with two expended cartridges, in addition to reclaiming the stolen vehicle.
The two injured suspects were transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead by the attending doctor. Ongoing efforts are in place to apprehend the escaped suspect with gunshot injuries. The Commissioner commended the swift and effective response of the Delta State Police in ensuring the safety of the victim and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
