
Security Forces Foil Kidnap Attempt in Kebbi, Four Suspects Neutralized
A coordinated operation by the Police and local vigilantes led to the elimination of four suspected kidnappers and the successful rescue of a 60-year-old victim in Kebbi State, according to the state Police Command.
The incident took place on February 14 at about 1:45 p.m. when armed assailants invaded Gobiraje Village in Suru Local Government Area (LGA) and abducted Umaru Bawa from his residence.
Acting swiftly, a joint team of police officers and vigilantes, under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Suru, pursued the kidnappers into Tundufai Forest in Dakingari.
Police sources reported that security forces engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, neutralizing four suspects and apprehending one with gunshot wounds. Several others fled but are believed to have sustained injuries.
The victim was rescued unharmed, and security operatives recovered N3 million in ransom money that had already been paid by the victim’s family.
