SOLDIERS RAID BANDITS HIDEOUTS IN BENUE, KILL 12 CRIMINALS AND RECOVER AMMUNITION

The Nigerian Army has raided some bandits’ hideouts in Benue State, killing 12 criminals, and recovering ammunition in the process.

Reports say the troops invaded the bandits’ hideouts with helicopters, engaged the criminals in a gun duel, killed 12 of them and recovered several ammunition.

It was gathered that the bandits ambushed the troops who were on a peacekeeping mission between warring communities of Bonta in Konshisha Local Government Area and Ukpute-Ainu in Oju Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday.

Soldiers had been deployed to the communities to restore peace and order following a clash between residents over land tussle.

Residents of Bonta village have reportedly fled their villages and are currently taking shelter at Tse-Agbaragba, headquarters of Konshisha Local Government area.
