Three EOD Officers Killed While Defusing Explosive Device in Zamfara

Three officers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit of the Zamfara State Police Command have lost their lives during a high-risk operation aimed at neutralizing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by suspected bandits.

 

The incident occurred along Bagega Road in Anka Local Government Area, where the officers were deployed to safely detonate the explosive device and secure the area for commuters and residents.

 

The deceased personnel have been identified as Superintendent of Police Abdulrazak Musa Hassan, who served as the Officer in Charge of the EOD unit, alongside Inspectors Auwal Ahmad and Murtala Musa.

 

According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, the officers died in active service while attempting to safeguard lives and restore safety in the affected community.

 

The Command described the late officers as highly committed and courageous personnel who consistently demonstrated professionalism and a strong sense of duty in the face of danger.

 

It added that their efforts reflected deep patriotism and an unwavering dedication to peace and public safety, noting that their sacrifice represents a significant loss to the Nigeria Police Force.

 

The statement also extended condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues, and the wider police community, acknowledging that their passing leaves a painful gap within the Command.

 

While mourning their loss, the Police Command praised their legacy of bravery and service, stating that their commitment to duty would continue to inspire serving officers in the fight against insecurity.
