TROOPS ARREST NOTORIOUS GUNRUNNERS, RECOVER OVER 1,200 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION IN KADUNA

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), in collaboration with Sector 1 of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), have apprehended two suspected gunrunners and recovered a large cache of ammunition during a coordinated security operation in Kaduna State.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, was based on credible intelligence from an agency in Plateau State. Acting swiftly, the joint troops set up a snap checkpoint at the outskirts of Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area, where they intercepted the suspects — 40-year-old Abdullahi Balarabe and his 18-year-old wife, Shafaatu Abdullahi.

A search of their vehicle led to the discovery of 1,207 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, believed to be destined for armed groups operating in the North-West region. The suspects and the recovered ammunition are currently in custody for further investigation and follow-up operations aimed at dismantling the wider gunrunning network.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of JTF Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, commended the troops for their vigilance, bravery, and swift response.

He emphasized that the success of the operation highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity. “We will not relent in our efforts to eradicate the activities of terrorists and criminal elements,” he stated, assuring residents that the Joint Task Force remains committed to restoring peace and stability across the region.
