Troops Dismantle Illegal Arms Factory, Arrest Suspected Gun Manufacturers in Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dismantled a suspected illegal arms manufacturing syndicate in Kebbi State, arresting two suspects and recovering locally fabricated rifles believed to have been supplied to terrorist groups.

The operation followed actionable intelligence, which led troops to a secluded compound allegedly used by the suspects to manufacture and conceal illegal firearms while evading security surveillance.

During a search of the premises, security operatives recovered five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and arrested two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers.

The military said the operation, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, marks another significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics networks and curb the proliferation of illicit weapons across the North-West.

The arrested suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing interrogation, while investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, as well as uncover their financiers and collaborators.

The Theatre Command commended the professionalism of the troops and partner security agencies involved in the operation and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to strengthen efforts aimed at eliminating criminal elements and improving security across the region.
