Troops Intercept Armed Militia, Recover Weapon in Plateau State
Troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) have intercepted an armed militia mobilized to launch attacks on communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
The operation followed a distress call on Thursday, September 4, 2025, regarding the movement of militias targeting communities in Fann District. Acting swiftly, troops laid an ambush at Kaskra in Ropp District, where they arrested a militia member in possession of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was mobilized from a nearby community to carry out an attack on Nding Village in Barkin Ladi. He is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to provide information that will support follow-up operations.
Troops have since intensified patrols and are working to intercept other militias believed to be mobilized for the planned attack.
The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security in its area of responsibility, pledging to sustain efforts until stability is fully restored.
