Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Arrest Kidnap Suspect in Plateau Clearance Operations

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, under the special mandate of Operation WUTAN DAJI, have recorded significant successes in ongoing clearance operations across Plateau State, neutralising suspected terrorists, dismantling hideouts, and arresting a kidnap suspect.

The operations, conducted on April 4, 2026, targeted criminal enclaves in Wase Local Government Area, particularly around Babangida, Adua, and Bokayi villages within the Dutsen Zaki forest. Working in collaboration with local vigilantes, troops engaged armed terrorists along the Babangida–Adua road in a fierce exchange of fire, resulting in the neutralisation of two suspects, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.

A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm, a belt containing 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a cutlass.

In a related operation on April 5, 2026, troops deployed in Namu District of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area intercepted four suspected terrorists based on credible intelligence. The suspects were found in possession of 100 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Further efforts to locate and dismantle their hideout led to an exchange of gunfire with other members of the group. During the confrontation, three of the arrested suspects attempted to escape and were reportedly killed in the crossfire.

Meanwhile, in Shendam Local Government Area, troops, in collaboration with local residents, apprehended a suspected kidnapper in Gidan Mangoro village. The suspect is believed to be linked to a kidnapping incident reported on April 3, 2026, and is currently in custody for further investigation.

Military authorities said the operations underscore ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in Plateau State, urging residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely information.
