Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Rescue Kidnap Victims, Recover Arms in Zamfara Operations

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded fresh successes in ongoing operations against banditry and terrorism in Zamfara State, neutralising terrorists, rescuing three kidnapped victims, and recovering arms and other items during separate operations in Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas.

According to the military, the operations were carried out as part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore security across the state.

On June 12, 2026, troops conducting a fighting patrol across Birnin Saba, Yanbuki, and Sabon Garin Daudawa communities in Zurmi Local Government Area encountered a group of terrorists in the Yanbuki District.

During the ensuing gun battle, troops neutralised one terrorist and recovered rifles, four magazines loaded with ammunition, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, two MP3 players, a woodland camouflage trouser, and an inner vest.

The military further disclosed that as the troops advanced towards Sabon Garin Daudawa, the terrorists abandoned their camp and fled due to the superior firepower and advancing presence of the security forces.

Troops subsequently cleared the area and destroyed the terrorists' hideout, further degrading the operational capabilities of criminal elements within the axis.

The military reiterated its commitment to sustaining offensive operations aimed at eliminating terrorist and bandit activities and ensuring lasting peace and security across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
